Home: About Us

As a Brick Township High School sophomore, Jimmy Bangura was like every other kid his age. Preparing to turn 16 on August 19th, 2019, he looked forward to obtaining his driver's license, having a girlfriend, and attending college. His intense passion for music, visual arts, and life shined through his personality. His love for his family was evident in the strong bonds he formed, especially with his mother and baby sister, Jada.

Unfortunately, on June 8th, 2019, Jimmy's life was cut short in a tragic accident. What began as an innocent day at a party ended in the Bangura family's worst nightmare. While swimming with friends, Jimmy went missing underwater for an extended period and was eventually recovered but unresponsive. After a seemingly endless fight in the hospital to revive him, Jimmy passed away on Sunday, June 9th, 2019. From that point on, our family has never been the same.

Jimmy had a heart filled with kindness, love, and laughter. His dynamic presence was infectious and always impacted those he interacted with. Though he didn't get to live out his dream of becoming a singer, his unique talent and love for melodies will always be remembered.

While his time with us was short, his impact is everlasting. The Jimmy Jimmy Foundation will continue spreading Jimmy's light through several life-saving and life-changing initiatives in remembrance of him. Our efforts will help fund youth swimming lessons to prevent life-threatening situations and singing lessons for kids who share Jimmy's passion for music.

The family thanks you in advance for the help and support in strengthening The Jimmy Jimmy Foundation's impact.

May Jimmy continue to Rest in Peace.
